Privacy - How Ambient Cover handles your data

Ambient Cover uses the microphone and Apple’s Shazam service to recognize the music playing around you. Only a fingerprint of the music is sent to Shazam, never the sound itself. Nothing is recorded or saved.

The microphone is only used while Ambient Cover is open, indicated by the orange dot in iOS. When idle, the app only listens for a few seconds every few minutes. You can pause listening at any time with the microphone button.

Weather is optional. Your approximate location is only used when you turn on Weather, and iOS asks for permission first. The location is sent to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve the local weather, and is not stored.

You can turn off microphone or location access at any time in the Settings app, under Privacy & Security.

Ambient Cover does not collect personal data, does not use analytics, and does not share any data with other parties or individuals.

The optional purchase is handled entirely by the App Store. Personal information from your App Store account is not collected, stored, or used in any way.
