The proper display of albums requires that the AlbumArtist mp3 tag is used. Here’s an example of what the tagging should look like.
Let’s assume that the following 4 albums are in the collection, and they have to be shown as individual albums:
- The album ‘Greatest Hits’ by Queen
- The album ‘Greatest Hits’ by ABBA
- The compilation album ‘Hits for X-Mas’ with songs from 18 different artists
- The album ‘A Seat at the Table’ by Solange, where some songs are collaborations with other artists
To achieve this, data is grouped by Album and AlbumArtist, and it will lead to the expected results when the following meta-data is present:
The album ‘Greatest Hits’ by Queen, For all tracks on the album:
- Album: Greatest Hits
- Artist: Queen
- AlbumArtist: Queen (or empty in which case the Artist is used as AlbumArtist)
The album ‘Greatest Hits’ by ABBA, For all tracks on the album:
- Album: Greatest Hits
- Artist: ABBA
- Album Artist: ABBA (or empty in which case the Artist is used as AlbumArtist)
The compilation album ‘Hits for X-Mas’ with songs from 18 different artists, For all tracks on the album:
- Album: Hits for X-Mas
- AlbumArtist: Various
- For each individual track, Artist: Queen, ABBA, Chris Rea, etc.
The album ‘A Seat at the Table’ by Solange, where some songs are collaborations with other artists, for all tracks on the album:
- Album: A Seat at the Table
- AlbumArtist: Solange
- For each individual track, Artist: Solange, Solange feat. Q-Tip, Solange feat. Kelala, etc.
