Miles Davis - In a Silent Way

Surprisingly accessible

Album cover

This week it’s time for a jazz album. In a Silent Way is where Miles Davis moved into fusion jazz territory. Featuring a young John McLaughlin on guitar, it’s a departure from the more traditional jazz albums that Miles Davis was known for. The album is, to my ears, much more accessible than Bitches Brew, which was recorded only 6 months later, and which I never managed to fully appreciate. In a Silent Way however goes down easy with a mellow vibe, maybe a bit too repetitive for some listeners.

With only 2 tracks, it doesn’t really make sense to pick a favorite song.
