This weekend it’s time for Best Kept Secret, our annual 3-day family festival trip to a safari park in the south of the Netherlands, for 3 days of music. Headlining this year are Jack White, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and Gorillaz. The first 2 are long time favorites, Nick Cave is one of few artists that I saw in smaller venues in the early 90’s, who now plays to huge crowds. Gorillaz on the other hand I never paid attention to, but in preparation for their show I bought their new album The Mountain a few months ago.
And I have to say, this album makes that I really look forward to the show, hoping they will give it proper attention in their setlist. Favorite tracks are opener ‘The Mountain’, and ‘Delirium’, where the very typical sample use of Mark E. Smith made me rediscover The Fall. Maybe I should use make them weekly tip in the future as well.
